What if you accidentally delete an important message from your WhatsApp? Can you get it back?
So in this article, let’s check out the ways of getting back the messages . You can either get it back using Manual method or using web application.
Only few knows that WhatsApp Creates backup of all the data each day at 4.A.M (system time) which is stored in the SD card of your Android smart phone.
Retrieve Deleted Messages in WhatsApp Messenger:
First of all navigate to the WhatsApp database forlder, you will require a file explorer for this task. The path is Sdcard->WhatsApp->Databases
In the Database folder you will be seeing the chat files named as “msgstore-2014-01-04.1.db.crypt. You can notice that the file name has date as well. But there is a file named “mgstore.db.crypt” which we need to rename it, by adding any word before “mgstore.db.crypt”.
After renaming the file, from the list of other files just choose the appropriate date before you accidentally deleted your WhatsApp messages, and then rename the file to “mgstore.db.crypt”. This renaming process can be done by using your PC settings.
Then the final step is go to Setting->Application->manage application->WhatsApp and click on clear data. Now open WhatsApp, choose restore when it prompts. That’s it, the chat file saved as “mgstore.db.crypt” will be restored and hence your messages too.
In case if you have deleted any video or audio file, that can also be retrieved back by just navigating to sdcard/WhatsApp/Media where you can find the folders with names WhatsApp audio, WhatsApp video, open them up to find the file you are looking for.
The above steps are to retrieve the deleted message manually. Similarly we can also get back the deleted messages using the web app. The step follows:
For this we have to make use of web application called “ Recover messages” which is specially designed to get back the deleted WhatsApp messages.
Simply download “Recover messages” app. Click on Select SQlite file to upload the database file, choose the database file from the sdcard, check the box which says “I accept the terms and conditions” and click on scan.
Wait for few minutes since it will take time to load all the messages from the database
With this easy method you can view your deleted WhatsApp messages within a minute.
But however, the drawback in this method is that you cannot restore the messages to your WhatsApp messenger.
