According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a new report has been released, which says the number of Americans who underwent plastic surgery on their chin has risen dramatically last year. In 2011, more than 20,600 people received “chin augmentation” which is a plastic surgery procedure that reshapes the chin with implants or moving bones. That’ up from 12,000 chin augmentation procedures in 2010, the report says.
Among all, more than half of surgeries have been done in men and the largest increase was among the people who have crossed their 40’s, the report says. This is mainly because the chin and jaw line are the first areas to show the signs of aging. Thus, people are considering the chin augmentation as a way to restore their youthful look said Dr. Malcolm Roth, president of American Society of Plastic surgeons.
