Rajinikanth(Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, born on 12th December 1950), is a famous and highest paid Asian actor next to Jackie Chan, Prominent media personality and cultural icon. He is best known for his mass fans followers largely drawn from his mannerisms and stylized delivery of dialogues in his films.
Rajinikanth hails from the Marathi family of Bangalore, Karnataka state and was the fourth child for his parents. Although his mother tongue is Marathi, Rajinikanth has not acted in Marathi movies till date. He spent his childhood in poverty and worked as a bus conductor prior his film career.
His early days started by acting in plays while working as a bus conductor in 1973. He later joined in Madras Institute of Technology and pursued a diploma in acting.
The period from 1980 to 1989 was really a mentionable turning point in Rajinikanth’s career.

The film Apoorva Ragagangal(1975), the film itself was thick in controversy, and nobody took notice of the young newcomer Rajinikanth, who was barely on screen for just 15 minutes.
No one among the audience, even in their wildest imagination would have thought that this nondescript man who had won the least attention in the film would ever win millions of heart from all over the world.
K.Balachander, the popular director who has created thousands of stars in film industry, first met Rajini at Film institute and glanced at this dark young man and immediately asked to meet him at office the next day. This became one of the unforgettable moments of Rajinikanth when he was informed that he was going to act in K.Balachander’s next movie.
This offer was made by K.Balachander since he had confined to his close associate “Ananthu” that “This young man has fire in his eyes. He will reach heights and One day he will take Tamil Nadu by storm”. How true the prediction turned out !!
Though Rajinikanth Persistenly calls K.Balachander as his guru, SP.Muthuraman, a famous director was the one who experimented Rajinikanth in a positive role in the movie “Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri”. The massive hit of the movie made SP.Muthuraman to direct Rajinikanth in another movie named “Arurilirunthu Arupathu Varai” which had a unique role tailor-made for Shivaji Ganesan, a top most actor in Tamil Industry.
Later, after the release of the movie Bhairavi he is called as “Super star” of the Tamil cinema.

Rajinikanth is the one and only Film star for whom his whole large followers (About 1008 men, women and children) got their head tonsured for their Thalaivar-Super star Rajinikanth at Palani Hills when Rajinikanth was hospitalized in National Kidney centre, Singapore.
In addition to that, few other fans undertook a “Padayattra” (Reaching the hill all the way by bare foot) to the hill temple.
Later after his recovery, the same group of followers thanked Lord Dhandayuthabani by carrying Pal kudam.
At the end of all the poojas, they served free meals for 1500 devotees and pulled the golden chariot of the deity.

A popular news channel was covering the journey of Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi visit to Japan and happened to see Rajini fans and interviewed them for few mins. Among them, a young chap holding placard of the Ruling party BJP which says that he belongs to Japan Rajini Fan club and says that he is a big fan of Super star. He also uttered Rajini’s famous dialogue “Nan oru thadavae sonna nooru thadava sonna mari”.
This video became a viral hit over the internet.
Rajini commands a substantial fan base in Japan after his movies like Muthu, Batcha, Padaiyyappa which became viral hits in Japan. Many Japanese has flown to Chennai to meet this Biggest star of Indian cinema industry.
